It was New Year Clara and and her family were preparing to celebrate. On the Eve. Clara and her brother Sam were excited. They were going to church for a special service.
“Why do we go to church for New Year’s?” Sam asked.
“To thank God for the year and pray for the new one,” Mama said with a smile.
At the church, the room was full of happy people. Everyone sang songs of praise. The choir wore matching robes and sang beautifully. Clara clapped her hands to the music.
The pastor stood up and spoke. “This is a time to thank God for His blessings,” he said. “Let us also pray for peace, health, and joy in the new year.”
Clara and Sam closed their eyes. They thanked God for their family, friends, and school. They asked Him to keep everyone safe in the new year.
At midnight, the church bells rang loudly. “Happy New Year!” everyone shouted. People hugged and smiled. Some children waved small lights, and Clara thought they looked like stars.
After the service, everyone went outside. The sky lit up with fireworks. “Wow!” Sam said, his eyes wide with wonder.
Mama handed them small pieces of cake. “Let’s start the year with sweetness,” she said.
Clara and Sam ate their cake and laughed. They felt happy and thankful. The New Year had begun, and it felt special.
That night, Clara promised to be kind and helpful all year. It was her way of celebrating the new beginning.
